LAKESHORE APPEARANCES:
8/4/2007

Lots of people know Carol Leifer -Internationally acclaimed standup comic, Carol Leifer - Emmy-nominated comedy writer; and even Carol Leifer- Creative force behind such watershed sitcoms as Ellen and Seinfeld. Now the Lakeshore Theater is proud to present a whole new facet of this amazing talent. Carol will be sharing passages from her forthcoming book from Random House, When You Lie About Your Age, The Terrorists Win. It’s a humorous exploration of marriage, divorce, aging boomers, and finally finding true love (and a baby!) all after forty -- with special attention to her recently passed, wise-cracking dad and psychotherapist mother. It’s a witty and disarmingly personal tale as only Carol could tell it. And even though the book is not on bookstore shelves yet, Carol is offering audience members a chance for a free copy with paid admission.

A native of Long Island, Carol began her career in the late 1970s as a stand-up comedian, performing in well-known Manhattan comedy clubs such as The Comic Strip, Catch a Rising Star and The Improv. Her big break came when David Letterman unexpectedly saw her perform, which led to 25 appearances on Late Night with David Letterman." In addition to her fixture status on the standup scene, Carol spent three years writing for Seinfeld eventually going on to produce, and she also served as a writer and supervising producer on HBO's critically-acclaimed The Larry Sanders Show. In 1998, she made her television starring debut on The WB's Alright, Already. She was the Co-Executive Producer of the ABC sitcom "It's Like You Know," starring Jennifer Grey and was also an executive producer on Ellen.
