A sneak preview of Harold, an independent feature, was screened at Chicago’s Lakeshore Theater on June 20 & 21, 2008. The film opened nationally mid-July and is the freshman outing for SNL veteran, Writer/Director T. Sean Shannon and is based on his short of the same name.
The City Lights Picture is a heartfelt offbeat comedy about the trials and tribulations of a twelve year old stricken with premature balding and his move to a new town. (watch trailer here) Harold revolves around the title character (Breslin) and his relationship with his school’s janitor (Cuba Gooding Jr.) who befriends and helps him through an onslaught of merciless teasing. Rounding out the cast is Nikki Blonsky, star of the hit Hairspray and former brat-packer Ally Sheedy. Also featured are SNL alum Rachael Dratch, Colin Quinn, Chris Parnell and Fred Willard.
In addition to watching the movie, audience members had a chance to enjoy the “Makers’” other work including; shorts, sketches and live performance. Live Q&As created the opportunity for the general public to pose questions such as, “How did your idea grow from SNL sketch to feature film?” or “What’s it like directing an Academy Award winning actor?” or "What is your obsession with bears?".
